View Full Version : E-Brake Cables?

So I have started running new brake lines in Mort, Pulled the rear axle so I could run the lines nice and clean around the truss and clean up the fuel and brake lines around the new cross-member. And then realized that I have not done anything with the emergency brake.

So... since I am now running a 6 1/2" lift I should probably go with longer e-brake cables, does anyone know or have any information on what cables I can get, or the length that I need?

I seem to remember a list on here somewhere about what parts from other vehicles can be used but I don't think it had anything on e-brake cables.

Stock lines will do the trick no need to lengthen them

I used the 2 passenger side e-brake cable from a 1995 YJ.

Thanks Matt, I should have mentioned that I have a 4 link in the rear and it has tones of travel, will the stock cables still be long enough?

if you do the disc brake swap use the cables from a libby (miles of extra)

perfect! already have done a teraflex disc conversion to the rear, does the year of the libby matter?

are those pics of a libby or xj? I don't have that fancy box for the e-brake cables on my 92

Here's how I hooked up the e-brake cables on my MJ rear disks by using Ford factory brake clevis brackets. Works well with Explorer and/or Teraflex disk brakes. These are available form Lokar and others. HTH.

thanks Don, I went with the libby cables and they worked great, touch long but with the coils in the back and the amount of travel i have i am very happy with them.

I can't wait until it warms up.. try and hit up the JY for ZJ brake parts then I'll snag me some KJ cables.. I have heard they work nicely... Do you just grab the rear cables for a Libby, or do they need to be two of one side cable??
