What is this? on my 2001 XJ

This thing makes a lot of ticking noises. what is it and do i need to fix it?

That's what makes your AC compressor kick on and off leave it be its normal to click

they make a blanket type of thing that is on some of the grand caravan to muffel the sound alittle. you might find one in a auto yard.

Sometimes when I am not even using the AC and I'm on full heat this thing is clicking away and I can hear it from the inside.

Does it mean the part is going bad? If it does go bad is my jeep going to stop running? Please give me worst case scenerio.

no a/c they make that noise about 2-4 year after new if you replace it the new one make noise too I was told from a machanice who usto work at a dealer now he runs he's ouwn shop.I have know him for years.

My xj is my daily driver and well she is just getting old. I notice stuff more.
