He checked the oil about 2 hrs in on a 4 hr trip back to salt lake and it was full. The weather was cold yesterday when he headed back. It just started doing it. Thanks for any ideas sucks having the kids jeep 4hrs away and trying to fix it over the phone.

It shifts really rapid and sometimes down shifts from 2000 rpms when I give it some gas and falls to about 1500 it also died at a stoplight and nothing would even try to kick on not even the radio about 1 min after it started but was flooded or somthing cause it took a lot of encouragement to start it

mmmm..not good..can ya see the leak, the trans is a strong bit of gear in the xj..the two ive killed was water :rolleye0012: and heat..heat was because there was a slight leak in trans line ..it killed the torque converter...did you check trans oil while in neutral and warm while on flat ground ...have you overfilled it..just as bad as not enough......did you notice any puffs of white smoke while driving it..tis the color trans oil makes when it hits the muffler.

Have ya checked for codes? My 2000 was shifting funny a few months ago I replaced tps cause most times it's that but I had a code for the turbine input Sensor I replaced it and its been shifting like its supposed to again

No I haven checked codes. I no that the leaks comming from the front in the center. The engine is now revving funny it flutters but it is shifting great after I put more ATF in it.

Well he figured out how to fix it. Called dad and said its not going to make it to your house, can you grab a truck and trailer and come and pick it up and fix it. Ha Ha Ha so now I have it and its been 15 below for the last couple of days so nothing has been done yet. But it is running terrible barley got it off the trailer under its own power.
