This may appeal to only a very small number of you if for no other reason it's pretty techy...
With your support we have been able to put together a really stable server/network/Internet system so we don't see much down time.
Anyone in the I.T. industry knows it will happen. In the past many of you have resorted to sending messages to xjtalk on Facebook or Twitter wanting to know if the server is down, or to inform that it is.
We now have a way that you can monitor the server. If you have a twitter account you can "follow" @ns1muckleroy.
You will receiver HOURLY updates that look like this...
12/24/12 21:01:02 muck1.muckleroy.com-> CPU idle: 15 days, 10:33, Load: 1.05, 0.87, 0.85 / usage: 75%, Free memory: 203M
If the server is shutting down you will see...
Just letting you know that server muck1.muckleroy.com has shutdown on Mon Dec 24 21:59:54 CST 2012
If the server has started back up...
Just letting you know that server muck1.muckleroy.com has started on Mon Dec 24 21:59:49 CST 2012
Now it's always possible that the server startup will fail after sending this message, or power can be removed from the server and you'll never see a shutdown message, so this isn't fool proof.
But it will let you check and possibly get an answer quickly.
The ns1muckleroy twitter account is private so you will need to follow and be followed in return before you will start seeing the updates.
