That is quite a large amount of money to sink into a xj. My only suggestion would be is, make sure you buy the biggest lift you think you will ever want. Lots of folks buy a smaller lift then later decide to go bigger, thus spending even more money. Also you dont need a 10k winch, the 8k will be plenty i promise. I would be careful about the chip. Was not a good idea on my jeep. The chip gets rid of the rev limiter, which is very nice to have while wheeling. Dont waste money on a cat-back either. Do like I did and go to a muffler shop and buy a used muffler (slp loudmouth im my case) and have it installed for less than $100. Will flow just as well. Also $700 seems crazy for a roof rack, either search cl for a long time to find a used one, or save yourself a ton of money and build your own. You could buy a welder and pipe for alot less than $700.

Good advice and I will make the adjustments to the post when I get back from mission. Thank you

The bad part about going higher than 3 is you have to modifying everything which would cost more money.

As for the Cat back, my pipe is pretty rusted and old, do you think it would just be better to replace the whole system with something stainless?

A word of advice on Rusty's. They have very high shipping. I hear the trick is to call then and get the lowest shipping prices available. By the time they add that shipping in the prices aren't nearly as good

I know you have been at this longer than I have. Who would you suggest for a good 3 inch lift and good for the money.

Their prices are still good, and no one has a package deal like theirs. However, the word is that by calling instead of buying on line, you will probably save a few hundred dollars on shipping and handling.

I have a Rough Country 6.5" lift kit(sits at 7.5" since I added coil spacers and blocks in the rear) and I like it. Its rough to begin with but after awhile you dont even notice it, its cheap too...I think I spent no more than $1200 for my lift kit(my price is probably way off lol)

I dont want to go that high since its a DD and the modifications it takes to go that high are costly.

370 for shipping for the whole package. Would you say that is fair since its 4 tires and rims?

Tough to say. It will be truck freight. Take the weight and call UPS and ask them for how much for truck freight at that weight.

I would also look into upgrading the battery wiring, alt and headlights. going to a duel battery set up might be prudent.

But some of that might be just me.

I will have room since the intake will be removed in place of the cowl intake. I thought the compressor would go there but do you feel a 2nd battery would be better?

For I would put the second battery under the hood and the compressor in the back in that cuby hole on the passenger side.

for an air compressor you cant beat the ARB, its more pricey but well worth it! and fits right beside the brake booster.

more like this http://www.ericsxj.com/oba.htm Eric has a very good OBA set up

When filling tires, duty cycle is something to be considered. The 20% duty cycle would be barely adequate, or if the tires are very large inadequate. For instance, my OBA uses an AC compressor rated at 11.0 CFM and takes four minutes to fill four 31" tires. I find these estimates a little generous on fill times

Check cpttuna's mods on this site and you will see my stainless exhaust system.. Borla muffler $110 , ss cat $105 ss pipe $20 and $45 to the muffler shop to fabricate everything. The pipe came from the local recycling center.

Does anybody use bumper or cage tubes for air reservoirs anymore?

We were doing that with the early ARB units, or converted York A/C compressors for OBA.

roll cages would get moister in and rust from the inside and may fale and bumper would get dented and crack or holes and leak.I use to use them.

Allot of good advise on here for & about your build. Not everything you put on your jeep should be or needs to be new. If you can find it used and re-build it, or clean it up as new than you both learn & save $$$$. I bought a complete Rustys suspension package, but I had it shipped to me in Vancouver Wa. their price to ship 600, my cost to have it shipped my self..... $130. When I did my build I wheeled & dealed with all the vendors on shipping, so did some did not. My advice to you, shop everything, find the deals and save the $$$$ And yeah $700 for a roof rack..... I spent less than that on a Aussie & Detroit locker, new & shipped to my door.

Well I want a solid roof rack that does NOT clamp onto the "rain gutters". Do you have any suggestions? How much weight can it take?

From what I have been reading, the gutter mounts are not as strong as the base mounts. Plus if you mess up the gutter you cant exactly just swap it out.

As for weight, can it hold a dead hooker? :D I am actually thinking camping equipment, tools, maybe gas, spare, etc.

4.3LXJ

The gutter is actually stronger. However the weight must be spread more evenly than most do. A rack with six gutter mounts is actually quite strong
