Greetings XJ talk!

This week I will be removing the cylinder head to get the valves reground.
I have a FSM and have been looking over this http://www.xjtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7055 article as a rough guide.

I also found this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29I5fNAv-8M

So my question for any one that has done it do you have any tip and tricks to pass on?

Thanks

The most challenging part is accessing the bolts to separate the intake and exhaust manifolds from the head. You might want to spray the bolts with some WD40 or other lubricant and leave them to soak overnight before you start. Get past that stage and the rest is easy.
Make sure you drain the cooling system before you start, and have a buddy to help you 'cause a fully dressed up head is a heavy SOB to manoeuvre around by yourself. A good supply of beer, pizza, and your favourite music will certainly make the whole process a better experience.
That video was very good with lots of helpful tips.

I agree those bolts can be a pita. And it's real fun when you have big hands so if ya do find a buddy with small hands to help ya.

Use PB Blaster or Penetrating oil, not WD-40 on those header/manifold bolts. I soak them twice, once the day before the remove and once just before putting them to the wrench.
