been have a problem for awhile now but today is the first time have really had it happen to me first hand (was the family mobile). Seems when i first start out it almost has a memory steer. Pulls left as you correct it it pulls right and so on for about 2 or 3 miles then bam everything was fine and has not done it since. i have looked this over about 4 times now dont see sticking front end parts and have had 2 others look at it at work. Tuesday will have a fourth mechanic look at it any more ideas could it be in the gear box. pretty sure ball joints are good and have taken a pry bar to every bushing and joint and there was no play not saying it cant be it but am lost. drove in for 10k miles then one day it just started and wife has not driven it since

There is a valve body that controls the oil in the box. It might have been a little sticky. You are going to have it happen again to know for sure

well before it happen to my wife she made a right turn and she said it just wanted to continue to drive in the ditch and when she went to correct the hard pull then all the sudden it wanted to pull left. at this point i wont rule anything out. if it was brakes i would think it would do it all the time. but have notice a weird feeling before when it gets cold but today was really noticeable. i took the steering damper off to see if there was any resistance in it like a shock and that seemed to be good

no noises from the box or pump have checked it in the air and on a drive on rack. the only time it seems to wander is when i first start out driving but has done it when you make a turn. just wants to pull one way and when you steer the wheel the opposite to stay straight and the goes hard that way all the sudden kind of nerve racking. need to find out before the snow flys

That is because Wayne is down under and has the steering box on the wrong side

Since it only does it when cold, I still think you might have a problem with the valve body in the box

well since i have seem to have looked over and over at the front end and have not found anything is why i was leaning towards the box is there a way to check it to be sure or do i just replace it and hope for the best. Like i said thats when i have noticed it the most when i am in my first 3 miles go back and forth with it and the it clears up with no drifting. I know it not the best handling but it did not do this when i bought it

sounds like what Steve says, a sticking valve in the steering box. I will assume you have checked the box for leaking seals already and found none. Do you know if the power steering was ever run dry? or very low on fluid for any length of time? that can cause some galling in there, which could cause that sort of problem.

that i dont know about the running dry i would assume not just because he took care of it but who knows. from opinions i have gathered and would be the gear box or front axle joints which i checked in the jeep but have been told to pull them out and make sure they are good

well today i decided to take the left axle out and check the joint. was bound up so i changed it, so guess i will change the right one and see if the problems fixed
