The new lower radiator hose I purchased from NAPA did not come with a spring inside. The one in the old hose was not in good enough shape to put in the new one. I purchased 4 (WE1056) ss springs from FARMTEK18003276835at $3.89 ea to put in the hose to keep it from collasping. I have heard others talk about the lower hose not having a spring, but have not seen much in print about what they did about it. These springs are about 5 inches long.

Mine didn't have a spring in it either when it was replaced... and haven't had any issues of yet... but will have to keep this thread in mind in the event it does start to collapse on itself...

I don't think my new lower hose had a spring either... or my old one. I'd be really tempted to glue those springs to the bottoms of my shoes though!! :D

hmm because my mind works in very mysterious ways, i wonder if not having a spring would cause over heating issues like Tony (mudderoy) has been having........

Mine has a spring. I keep moving it to new hoses. The autoparts guys swear the new hoses don't need the coil (spring) any longer. I don't trust it.

I have plans on getting some video once I build a mount for my fancy micro camera/dvr unit. :D

You can also use a flex hose, they will never collapse
