98, 4.0, AX15, NV242, Dana 30/35, 160k miles

PO thinks it has 3.73 gears.

with out driving it I'd make an offer of less than 3,000. I'm personally not a fan of the D35 at all. doubt that it has 3.73 gears simply because I don't see a hitch on the back and it has the D35 instead of the 6.25 chrysler.

It does have a hitch visible in the fist picture... Did the 3.73 gears only come with the tow package? I was unsure about the 3.73 gears myself.

The guy isn't certain about the dana 35 rear and he is going to double check to see if it has ABS so that clear that question up

More than likely it has 3.55's. Jeep is very clean , and service records or history ? I wouldn't go more than $3500.00 as it sits. In alll reality $2750.00 is about what I would say its worth, but it depends on how bad you want it. Nice rig though.

KBB value in EXCELLENT condition is just over $2900. He does have several goodies on it in the bumpers, winch, etc. I would think you would want to put a lift and tires on it pretty soon... what else does it need? Anything else wrong with it?

I'd have to say Patrick I'd go $3500 tops

3.73s are possible with a 5 speed. For me 2k max and then I'd sell the bushcrackers and ugly front bumper to pay for some bigger tires.

We'll I haven't heard back from the owner about the abs question. He wants 4800 firm so this one is likely out but I emailed him asking for his bottom dollar

Well, for a little perspective, I paid $2,000 for my 97 completely stock from a guy in Tomball 2 years ago. Region is also a factor, so that gives a rough baseline. I certainly wouldn't go over KBB on it, and I did take into account the bumpers, winch, etc. Without a lift on it I don't see the price he's asking. If ya like, I used to work for KBB and I can ask a few of my old co-workers what they think, though without seeing the vehicle in person they may say the exact same thing I did.

Wow 4800 firm for a stock jeep with a custom bumper, winch and a set of bushwhackers. Still with base price and all the goodies it still don't come out to over 4000. If his low ball is over 4000 tell him thanks but ain't happenin.

Definitely can't see $4800, but its really worth what you're willing to pay. Of course, isn't everything.

Brasscatz, you paid $2000 for that jeep! Nice!

hahahaha

Well.... THis guy IS crazy, here's his response and then the back and forth texts.

"I was looking to get 5k out of her originally but the lowest i"ll go is $4800. I don't need to sell her right away and the interior/exterior are in near perfect condition that's why I'm pretty firm on the price."

I told him sorry, not interested unless you come down to around $3200, good luck with the sale
Then,
"am i asking too much?"
I said,
Yes, I know a bit about XJ's, and with the equipment yours has and the miles, you are asking too much. Have you looked at the KBB?
Then,
Ya I did look at it, she is prestine so I'm asking more than KBB.

I'm not wasting my time with this guy anymore LOL

It's nice to have some add ons, but with add ons probably means off road use. I think we all know that it depends on the person that drove it off road but you may be buying something that has a long of unknown issues just waiting for you to buy.

Personally I wouldn't consider it for $4800. This is the problem with people and their vehicles they have modified. I've already decided what I'd take for mine.

I'd tell him to keep the bumper and the bushwackers, and you'll give him $2500. Then you can get a set of jdougen's flairs, or get a set of those flat metal bolt on flairs from Jeep Tubes.

At that price it will stay pristine cause ain't nobody gonna spend 4800 on a stock XJ with a few goodies. I didn't spend that much buying Matt's white one lol

$4800 is a joke, When I sold mine, which was highly modified , I didn't ask that much. I would offer him $3000 and your phone number. Tell him when he is serious about selling it to give you a call.

It's regional....around here, that would sell easy for 4k+......do I agree with that pricing, no.....but you could get it in this area easy. I sold my wife's '94 with 223K for $2600 to the 1st looker.....

That front bumper is "what were they thinking"....ugg, 1st one I've seen, China can't fabricate with any style.

Doubt it has a D35.

Selling a used vehicle is a game start high on the asking price then put a price in your head you would take. My CJ7 I paided 3000 I asked 5500 and sold it for 4800 my XJ I paid 3500 asked 5800 and took 4800. With my TJ 97 I paid 13k because it has all the goodies I would put on it. It would cost you buying the jeep and adding all the stuff about 20k. If I was to sell it I would ask 18, 000 but would take 15,000. And BTW it's not for sale. When Wayne gets here he is going to want to take it home

Hmmm.... I might sell you mine for $4800 and you won't have to drive 4 hours... just across the street from work :D :poke:
