Whose do you have?

What what do you like or dislike about them?

I have a unknown set, I'll post a pic later, but they are a pain, and I get tired of zip tying the ends to the frame rails.

I have a set of Tereflex disconnects I like them, nice and quiet. Easy to disconnect and allow for good flex at the joints.

I have the old style rough country ones. They work ok, but are real pain in the :ass: to put back on.

I've got the old style Rubicon units, just about the same as the ones bigjim pictured. And yes, they make me want to melt them down every time i go to connect them back on. But otherwise i'd say they're... reliable.

Probably lol if it was street driving, I DD mine on 4.5 lift and 32s it rides better with it disconnected IMO I have gotten used to the body roll and drive slow around curves

I'll try to grab a pic of mine tonight, they disconnect on one end, and I have to swing out of the way and zip tie. PITA.

Okay, got pics of mine, disconnected, because they are a PITA.

Link bar (by the power of zip ties!) That top connection makes these a pain...

Axle connection...

**FUN FACT IN ABOVE PIC** note the broken factory bumpstop in the bottom of the spring :D

I don't expect my XJ to be a sports car, but it nose dives hard when the sway-bar is disconnected.

Yeah they are nice, but I'd carry a rubber mallet to get them back on. Plus you really need to be on level ground.

has anyone use or knows of anything about the currie AntiRock swaybar I have a chance to trade a dana 60 from a dodge for new still in the box antirock.the guy was going to put it on his cherokee but he traded for a work truck and now the rear is trash.

They work well. The secret to them is the long arm that allows the suspension to travel fully. They are a good set up that you don't have to disconnect for the trail

Tony, is it a one-person job or a two-person job to hook them back up?

gary63
12-09-2012, 08:32 AM
will I think I will go for it what he said is he bot them (front and rear) to put on his cherokee. He had a 6in. lift and when he ordered then he traded off the cherokee and they show up 2days later. He was going to give them to the guy becouse it wasn't part of the deal.He did ordered them from currie. So I will make the trade he needs the dana 60 and then we will see how good they are.

Are they manual or electronic?

4.3LXJ

They are manual. They have a poly spherical insert in them that rotates easily once broke in that makes it easy to slip on a tapered stud that comes with them. They also have a stud that you can mount to secure them in the off position.

So, it's been a couple of weeks since you've got your RC discos. Tell me, how do you like them?
I ordered a set of discos when I ordered my lift and the knuckleheads sent me a set for a stock setup. They are Warrior brand and they look like your old ones. The pin holes don't even line up and look like they might be a pita. I've been looking at the RC's and I wanted to know what you think.

The holidays effectively ensured that I would have just enough time to go into the garage, get out the tools, jack up the XJ, drag out the air lines, put down some pieces of cardboard to work on, get out the parts..........

......and put it all back up because some extended family people that we never see any other time of year even though they live within 30 minutes drive called to say they are dropping by and they need a place to park, they'll comment about how my driveway looks like a repair shop, I need to change clothes to not look like a complete redneck, grumble, grumble :bang:

I lost track of how many times I did that....and when they finally stopped dropping by, it started raining.

Maybe this weekend will be productive...

Installed these today, since I already had a set of aftermarket disconnects, these went fast. Pictures later.

Design is not bad at all, and I like the idea of having a way to pin up the links.

But there are some flaws with the directions. They do include directions with pictures, but but where detail is needed, the pictures are not very useful.

For example, the connecting rod is tilted for clearance, but the tilt is subtle, and I had to test-fit both ways, both installed on the pin and off, to figure out the right orientation. A clear diagram would have been useful, along with a diagram of how the washers and bushing stack.

But, considering how much cheaper these are compared to some of the disconnects out there, maybe the "not perfectly clear" directions are not so bad.

I do basically have to re-do the install in the morning, my son was helping and we ended up with each side being assembled slightly different, because the pictures were not detailed enough for my son and I to see the assembly the way.:bang:

Round two on the disconnects....still not sure who won though....

Passenger side link...

I am guessing the track bar here is pulling over, so this link a little out of sorts...hopefully.

Driver side link...

http://i.minus.com/iblw93GwwOQWcd.JPG

Like I said on the directions, they had pictures, but I felt I was guessing the assembly order on some of the fasteners. And the hitch pins I am trying this way. My son and I each did a side on Saturday, and each of us assembled it differently. I had the hitch pin running up and down, and he did his front to back. After looking at it, I swapped mine to match his. Still not sure which way is "correct".

Need to check that with the weight of the rig on the axle

Need to check that with the weight of the rig on the axle

It straightened out once on the ground with weight, but I need to triple-check the link length too.

I believe it was Tony that said he keeps a mallet for dealing with these, I will end up doing the same, I think.

The "storage" brackets, for putting the links out of the way, I am delaying until I install the Backbone, may end up tacking those to the mounting plates.

All you were seeing is the axle shifting at full extension. It is normal with a track bar

These are what came off my XJ, I replaced them with the RC disconnects.

They work, and are not bad to disconnect and re-connect, IF you have someone to help.

I'll put them on the wirewheel and clean them up, if anyone wants them. I was using them with an estimated 4.5" lift.

Those are the same disconnects that I am running on my XJ right now.. I haven't really had any issues re-hooking them the few times I've played around with them unhooked.. They do take a little bit of effort, but not really that bad..

Ok I have 8in lift and 35s and I dont run my swaybars most the time took the back one out still have the front but its always disconted all the time I dont have any problems maybe thats me.

Also in this picture I have a tip for you guys who do disconect the front if you look where the zip tie goes through the frame. If you take a Hitch Pin and put it in the hole it will hold the swaybar up and out of the way. Thats how I run mine all the time.

That is what a lot of guys do if you have that hole available. However that hole is utilized by the factory tow hook mount and most winch bumpers.

Easily done with one wrench.
Remove from axle mount, screw nut back on to link, screw link onto welded nut on steering skid.
Solid and secure.
