I drive a 1989 Cherokee Limited, which is mostly stock. It has about 179K miles. The plan is to fix the window motors, door locks, etc. and keep driving it until 2014. I am the second owner, bought the Jeep in Feb. of 1990 with 9000 miles on it. The next 112K was commuting in the greater Washington, DC area. The rest has been around Aiken, SC. I am retired and spend most of my time fixing one of four cars (1973 Corvette, 1995 Volvo 960, 1998 Camry and being a home owner, a full time hobby. I found this site Goggling for battery cables for the XJ.

Welcome to the group, Robert. That's a nice, long relationship. I bet you know that jeep inside and out by now. What happens in 2014?

The Jeep will be 25 years old, the longest that I have owned the same vehicle. I plan on keeping it longer, but with many mods. The first is disk brakes for the rear, then a second set of bushing for the front end. I do not go off road often, but like a great handling rear wheel drive car to run errands and pull the trailer.

Sounds great, maintenance is the key to a happy jeep.
