Hi I'm Doug and new to the forum.
I am in the process of building a 2001 XJ.
I am working towards stuffing 36" swampers and am working on the fenders.
I have seen Wrangler front flares used. what is the best wrangler flare to maximize the cut-out?
thanks!
Doug

:welcome: to :xjtalk: Doug.

I'll let one of the other guys answer your question, however I would think that a flat fender flare would work best, and some bump stops. That's not what you asked though.

Hey Doug, gotta say hello and welcome to the forum since I'm also a Doug! IMO, the best Wrangler flare to use is the TJ rears. The TJ covered a lot of years and is easily available. I've seen XJs with YJ flares but they just didn't look right.

Yea if your set on using the Wrangler Flares, go with the TJ's...
But Mudderoy's advice would be the best route to go.
Good Luck!
-Cant wait to see some 36's under an XJ!

Flat flares front and rear are the way to go with 36s

Hey guys thanks for the warm welcome.
I've looked at the bushwacker flats and they look like they turn down in the front too soon.
Who makes a flat that goes all the way to the marker light?

I don't understand why more xj owners arent going with jk flares. With all the jk owners swapping to aftermarket flares i should think there's an abundance of stock flares floating around. The large wheel opening has got to be good for something.

Such as this xj

Anyway, just an idea.

Welcome to the group, Doug.

I have thought about this also. The only drawback, though not much of one is that the JK has flat panels and the flares don't have provision for the contours of the XJ body. But other than that, it looks like a good option to me
