For a 3" lift kit can I get away with just new leaf springs and coil springs or do I need shocks and a arm bars? And wats the cheapest most durable kit I can get for my 98?

You could probably get away with stock arms, but thats the max lift for those. But you would for sure need longer shocks. Most of the 3" lifts ive seen are all pretty good. My favorites would be either rough country or zone offroad.

Yeah I would say that would be the max limit for the stock arms... as far as shocks I think they will limit your travel on that height of suspension, but you could make use of them for a bit, and then pick up some aftermarket shocks that will support the lift height and allow flex once you save up a bit more if you are running on a budget..

As far as cheapest and most durable... what kind of money are you looking at spending on a lift, what height would you like to go with, and what size tires are you looking to run??

you are good to to with stock arms at 3". But if you go higher you will need to replace them. The cheapest kit would have and add a leaf for the rear. But the most durable will have new springs. However you can use what is called a bastard pack, the XJ main leaf and the bottom three leaves of an S10 rear to get 3.5" lift.
