This is a snorkel install for dummies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well this is my First write up usually i just do it and go but I would like to share this info with you guys.

What you will need: drill
drill bits
pop-rivit gun
hole saw kit
hack saw
tape
and other common hand tools

First I ordered this kit off eBay I paid $130.00 buy it now shipping was free it came from California took about 3 days to get here to Nashville TN upon receiving the kit i was anxious to see what the quality was so my opinion is that it was made very well please watch my video for the review of unboxing. (KIT DID NOT COME WITH INSTRUCTIONS JUST THE TEMPLATE)

First I had pulled out the factory intake (air box) and cut the snout off flush with the box (the 3inch plastic piece on the front of the air box)
I used a hack saw and a bench sander to smooth the rough edges NOTE you will need to silicone the joint.

after that I had to dismount the factory Computer or ECU so i could use a 4 inch hole saw to cut a hole just behind the headlight as low as I could go to the Driver front fender. The 4 inch hole is for the flex-hose. You can get a set of hole saws from Harbor freight for $20 plus you will need the driving/pilot bit which is $10.00 the total will be $30 and some change the kit comes with a 3 inch a 4in and a 4 1/4 inch hole saw make sure they are bi-metal!! home depot is more expensive. so after modding stock intake and cutting a 4 inch hole line up the template with the top of the fender and the back of the fender (closest to the driver side door). Secure template with painters masking tape. Now drill (with a smaller bit) drill out you pilot holes it makes it alot easier and if some thing happens to template the holes are already marked NOTE (use a punch or hammer and a nail to put a small dent in the center of hole to be drilled out this keeps the drill-bit from walking) After marking those holes (there are 4 holes for the studs/bolts) and also mark the one for the snorkel body to enter the fender. Now drill a 3 inch hole through the fender on template. (I know its tough it made me cringe drilling that big a hole in my rig) Then go back and drill out your pilot holes for the studs NOTE ( drill in to a scrap piece of wood or plastic to ensure you have the correct size drill bit and test fit a stud) Now you will need to secure studs to the body piece of the snorkel ( the main piece) there is a Allen head at the top of studs use lock-tite to ensure they wont come loose don't over tighten cause they are in plastic. Now you are ready to mount the body for a test fitting. Once you have it dry mounted hold the small metal braket for the A-pillar in place and Carefully mark it with a sharpie or nail ( if you scratch the paint it will be hidden behind the bracket) Unmount the snorkel body for the vehicle and drill out the holes for the bracket. Too secure the bracket to the vehicle there are four pop rivits. (There is no need to take off the trim on the inside of the A-pillar) You will need a pop rivit gun to rivit the bracket ($7.99 at Harbour Freight) Now rivit the bracket to the A-pillar.

TIP: touch up the holes where you drilled with nail polish or spray paint
to prevent rust!!!!

Remount the snorkel body to the vehicle and and put the nuts and washers on the studs through the fender. Now use the black bolts for the bracket. (almost done)

Now attach the head of the snorkel with the black hose clamp and tighten it down. Then secure one end of the Flex-hose to the adapter on your intake with one of the hose clamps and then feed flex tube through the 4 inch hole then re-install your factory intake (air box)

Now run the flex hose over to the snorkel body and secure with hose clamp.

Make sure Flex hose is tucked up under the fender so when axle is articulating it does not crush the hose.

Now you have SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED YOUR SNORKEL KIT

I would like to see a pic of the flex pipe routing. My axle flexes quite a bit with 33's and would like to make sure there is no chance of hitting the pipe. Good write up though

I did't realize that the ARB Safari snorkel installs the same way. The AirFlow snorkel doesn't go through the wheel well.

yeah!! from what i heard arb used to have the items made in china and over there the patent laws are different there was one difference between the arb and this one and that was the adapter for the air box

This looks like it would work with a ABS system, because of the hose routing?

While the ARB usually is not compatible with an ABS system? Do I have that right?

yes it should work with ABS but i do not have ABS but it should work
