My head lights started flickering tonight all of a sudden (on off on off very noticable) anybody seen this before i tried ordering a new headlight switch but its not the same as the one i have the plug wont connect to the new switch :bang::bang::bang:

I am tired of messing with the headlights
I am almost to the point of selling my rig :sign0181:

Hmmm... it sounds like you've got a loose ground somewhere, or something else in the wiring if I had to make a guess.

Had something similar happen in our '94 chevy 1500. The dash lights and tail lights went first. Then the headlights started flicking on/off, and finally all off. And on a dark two lane at night, none the less. The fix was the headlight switch.

mine was headlight switch, headlights turn off and on after few moment ~ 3, 5 and 10 seconds depending on ambient temperature. Headlight switch have thermocouple inside and oxidized contacts or upgraded lamp makes them hot and they cut circuit and when cools down connect back.

On my 94 the headlight harness that plugs into the main harness under the airbox and pcm had corrosion and lost contact may look into that first.

Try this as well:

I know its a write up for late models, but most of it will apply to the older ones as well.
At least it may help save you some money and keep you from buying a new switch, maybe.
