What's the best sounding exhaust system for an xj?

I run a Spintech muffler. Makes everything, even a ricer sound like it is really bad.

I hate to admit it but the exhaust on my brothers XJ sounds pretty sweet. A little loud for me but good tone. He runs a high flow cat, Flowmaster 44, and 2.5" tailpipe.

Ask 100 people and you'll get 150 different answers. I'm running a CherryBomb Turbo on mine and I find it very comparable to the Flowmaster that had been on it (before it rotted out). Oh and it was about 1/2 the price.

OLDS-COOL is right, everyone has a different preference.
I'm running a Dynomax, of course it was all that I could afford at the time, and it sounds decent outside the Jeep, but more or less stock inside. Flowmaster 40series seems to be a popular choice for a lot of the cherokee owners up here. magnaflow, borla both also good, and I hear that Dynomax even has a newer more aggressive line coming out as well. The cherry bomb method is a route that I've seen alot of guys go, it sounds good, is alot cheaper than most other "name brands" and tucks up nicely under the Jeep. You may have to do more custom pipe routing to make it work, but the results are great. You're results will of course vary depending on your catalytic converter and header set up, and overall exhaust pipe diameter. 2.25" will net you way different sound and torque range than a 2.5" system.

I run a flowmaster with twin exits right now. I like it, Wolf hates it, so it must be the right muffler for me. :D

The Flowmaster 10 series sounds really nice on the 4.0.

I'm debating on flowmaster 40 or a cherry bomb and debating on full exhaust or just muffler. Right now I gutted out my cat and it kinda sounds like a moped with a bigger motor

LOL! There's a mental image for ya! Cheryy Bombs can be found for cheap enough that if you dont like it you wont be out of pocket all that much. The 40 series is nice and aggressive on the 4.0L and is one of the better "toned" exhausts.... It may be a bit of a drone on the highways, so if you're trying to stay away from that, maybe a 50 series might be a better choice for you.
