Hi,

We started a new games website, "5hippos.com (http://www.5hippos.com/)"
We didn't launch it officially yet, and I would be happy to know what you think about it before starting "putting money" on it.

Thank you,
Saar

Looks good.
Very appealing to the "tween" to early teen demographic.
I've seen my stepson on several similar looking sites. (multi-game format)
I'd say your on the right track. Get some traffic, and some advertising, and start monetizing it!

The only problem I see is there are tons and tons of games available online. I think the market here would be 5 year old and under, not a great business model. Selling a game on a smart phone is the latest gee-whiz thing.

It's just my opinion but I wouldn't sink any money into a web based gaming site.

Games for the smart phones, or Facebook. Perhaps games for consoles but now we're talking fairly high end programming unless you get a simple hit like "Angry Birds".

FB games are dying too. Look at Zynga's stock... ZNGA the FB game mogul. Even app based smartphone games are on the decline. There will likely be plenty of ppl who still play them, but not the way they were 2 years ago

tried to get all fancy and link it directly, to no avail....

I've never played a Facebook game, and I block every game request I get. So at least no one will invite me to play that game again. Still I read a while back how profitable the Facebook games are and that is why I mentioned them. I mean just because I don't want to play Facebook games doesn't mean it's not something other people want to do.

with all the online resources available, it couldn't be cost prohibitive to create a site like Saar has. Generate some hits, bring in some ads and you should be in the black before too long.

I've thought about throwing my hat in the online retailing arena for a while now.
Can't hurt to have another fish in the pond.

If I could figure out a way to get idiots to play the lotto online, i'd retire. :sign0181:

Hi Guys,

Thank you for the feedback.
Regarding the business model and players...
That site targets kids up to the age of 12+-.
I know facebook games are attractive to them and to the older people too, but I'm not going to enter that business for now (we will integrate facebook in some of the games, but won't create a "pure facebook game").

As for the mobile games, I agree that the market is in that direction, but for now, not too much money is there (yeah, I know, tell it to the Angry birds creator :D ).
I have few games on the mobile (both ios and Android):
http://www.myplayyard.com/ios/

But there is almost no money from it now - the games are all free and based on in game ads.

I believe that for the next few years, online games will still exist...

Thanks,
Saar

PS, 4.3LXJ, I'm glad you like the zombie game, thank you wife for the help :)
I like it too.
