I'd like to replace my cheapo cb, that had a magnet for the antenna. I am wanting something like a firestick that is on the back out of the way. I have a c4x4 rear bumper with the tire carrier that has a mount for the highlift. The is a hole that can be used that is either for a light or a cb mount. I dont care if I can't talk 2 miles away. This will be just for trail use.

I also want to hook up a speaker to it so that I can talk to others outside the vehicle :D

What think ye?

What kind of CB do you have now? You can get a cheap Cobra 19 with PA (speaker outside to talk to people). The more expensive CBs out of the box will not necessarily perform any better, just have more bells and whistles.
As far as the antenna mount location, that will work find though you may need to run a small ground wire to get the metal to metal contact that is needed. The tire carrier is most likely isolated by some type of bushing.

I have one of those cheapo walmart cb's that are like $35 bucks. I've had it for over 10 years.

Might put that in my truck.

works fine and if something happens to it you aren't out a lot of money.

ahh, well you can still buy a cheap CB with the PA.

Can probably find them used for much cheaper. I typically find mine at garage sales for $5-$10.

You could get this one for $90, though to me that is a bit much for a CB.

Make sure you get a CB spring, before I got a spring my antenna would just bounce around and eventually break off(it did this alot) but once I got the spring it held together.

found this one off of the wally world link.

Seems pretty good, plus it will probably fit my custom mount, made out of an old license plate lol

yeah Uniden, Midland, and Cobras... all about the same.

Uniden has really updated the looks of their CBs though.

my research so far.

Speaker. Not sure what the difference is? Also, will these be loud enought so that I can talk to people outside the vehicle?

$22 shipping, no thanks. You ought to be able to find it with a reasonable shipping on ebay. I think there is a radio/cb shop up in McKinney not far from you.

Ouch I didnt even think about the shipping. Yeah I was wanting to have some kind of an idea of what is out there and what I could else where. I'll more than likely go up there sat.
