My son will be two in November, and is still in my opinion to young to really be involved in my XJ. He does love to be around it when we are outside playing. Mainly because he loves the letter E, so he walks around pointing all of them out even on the tires. Every time he does though it makes me think about how to get him involved in something I hope one day he will have an interest in, and it can be something we can do together. So I was wondering if I could get other people to share how are some other kids are involved in Jeeps with the adults in their lives.

I don't have any kids yet, but I do know a few things that may be relevant. When your son sees how much you love something, he feels that. I come from a long line of baseball players. My grandfather taught my father who taught me. My father was very, very good and loves baseball. I have a big passion for baseball too, and I used to be pretty good myself. I am probably one of the very few men in Texas that really doesn't care about football or basketball for that matter... but because my father loved baseball and got me into the sport, I love it.
As for wrenching on cars, my father taught me quite a bit. He wasn't a mechanic, but did do a lot of maintenance himself. As long as I can remember, I was out there handing him tools, holding flashlights and pumping brake pedals while he bled them. When we lived in the country, I would sit on his lap and "steer" the car for him. These days I think it's hard to get kids interested in anything other than TV and video games, but having them get involved with you as you do things will help this.

One of my favorite songs.... and it still brings a bit of a tear to my eye thinking about my dad.

Kids seem to like lifted jeeps. I dont have any kids, but when me and the wife go out, kids are most impressed with the Jeep. Now I just need to find a dumb kid whos parents are dumb enough to buy mine for them :D

When my daughter turned 15 I started looking for another car. Then I came across the jeep.

She had no intreset in what so ever at first. I wanted her to know a little about cars so she wont be helpless and at the mercy of the dealership.
So I had to pay her to help me out at first.. Then it became a regular tuesday night thing we done together. You have to make it fun for them. listen to their music. ( Gosh I hate Beebler) And by no means try to force them into it.
My dad tried to force golf on me and to this day I can't look at a golf tee without cussing

My 12 year old loves helping me. He's pretty amped about getting the lift on the XJ this weekend. I think he has some strange idea that it will be his when he is old enough to drive. :D

That pic is from when my nephew was 4. I needed to change the oil in my XJ and he was very helpful handing me the full bottles and throwing away empty ones. I let him take off nuts and bolts that are finger loose and hand him bad parts to show my sister. Im the oldest of 4 and I tried to teach the other 3 about cars. Only the youngest sister wanted to learn. I have no kids so I teach the nephew what he needs to know, his dads a Ford guy.

My three youngest(23,27 and 31) all drive Jeep Cherokees. Although it has been difficult to get them into jeeps per se, I don't believe they would give up their jeeps. 4 wheel drive and dependability rank high. This generation likes to turn cell phones, laptops and video game controllers, not wrenches.

I get kids pointing and lookin at mine all the time( might be me....hmmmmm). But really I get a kick out of it. They more or less drag mommy or daddy over to look. Puts a big ole smile on my face :D

I agree, although my son is 10, and he rather play xbox, then wrench pn Jeeps. But he loves when he sees me packin up PB&H sammys, se fruit, and pringles. He knows were bout to go put playin in Yammy. He thinks he is king poop when I pick him up at school and all his buddies hoot over Yammy. My favorite thing he says to me is, in winter when climbing our driveway. He says Yammy is A Beast mom! Even my dads jeeps couldnt make it up this! His sucks! Dad drives a jeep mini van, 06 wrangler. And of course I have to back Jeep up and I say, Oh hunee, its not the Jeep its the driver ;)
