Anyone have any experience with building and installing an adjustable map sensor?

Yup. I'm the author of that article. :D
I built my MAP adjuster back in 2003 when I still had my old modified 4.0 with full bolt-ons and a home ported head. It ran lean and pinged under load with the original 21lb injectors so I swapped in a set of Ford 24lb'ers. With the bigger injectors the pinging stopped but the engine went rich instead, so I built a MAP adjuster and lowered the input voltage to 4.25v to get the air/fuel ratios near optimal again.
The MAP adjuster came in handy again later on when I built and swapped in my 4.6L stroker. Using the same injectors, I needed to raise the MAP voltage to provide extra fuel. I currently have it set at 5.3v.

I am really not getting the concept of this adjuster. Or how to install it after its built on my 2000 xj with a 4.6.

Maybe this simplified schematic that does away with the SPDT toggle switch will help.
