I'm thinking about buying dirtbound offroads mid arm kit for an xj.

http://www.dirtboundoffroad.com/feat...mid-arm-kit-2/

The only problem I'm having is knowing how long I need to make my upper. How do i measure for the upper? Any help or suggestions would help

The dirt bound kit is a combination Y link and Three Link . There is one short piece of pipe for the one upper link that welds to one long arm. It would be like the critical path finished kits he markets.

The only thing I'm worried about is making the upper link the right length because i dont want to mess my pinion angles or steering up

I see. The way you do this is to attach both lower links and set your castor angle at 5° and then make your upper link and weld it up

Okay I think I see what you mean I thought it used the factory upper that's what was was confusing me thanks for clearing things up for me. Looks like ill be going to harbor freight this week and pick up an angle finder

If you need any further help on the build just feel free to ask... Steve (4.3LXJ) would be the one that would be one of the best folks to talk to if you get stuck.. Was glad to see he had answered in this thread as soon as I saw the title.. Look forward to seeing pics of your mid arm build!

Ill be sure to let you guys know how this kit works. It seems like a good deal rather than piecing it together

I have a set up just like his but its all adjustable. You the y link is nice to have but i dont like that its not adjustable. you will be basically stuck at that height. look into adjustable arms. IRO has some adjustable ones as well which i may be getting soon just for the high clearence factor. I have 1st gen rock krawler 3 link modifed into a y link

I don't plan on going any higher anytime soon maybe swap in some better quality springs but I'm staying at 4.5 until this thing turns into off road only. When i do go higher ill be going long arms or make these adjustable
