Water pump rotation question

I was talking to a veteran mechanic the other day and he asked me if I had gotten the correct rotation as cherokee's had issues with manufacturers had been building these with blades in the opposing direction... now I understand that when it come to pulleys on the jeep the grooved pulleys will rotate clockwise and the smooth pulleys will rotate counter clockwise but is there ANY opportunity that the pulley on the pump SHOULD be a GROOVED one?
am I the ONLY person thats heard this issue?

No Scott, there is a reverse rotation pump. To see what you have, remove the pump and post a pic of the impeller and I can tell you which way it should turn
