Hi,

Did someone here try to change the fan clutch mechanism to an electric fan?
Any thoughts regarding that conversion?
Thanks,
Saar.

I got rid of my clutch fan 12 years ago and I've been running dual electric fans ever since. Each has a separate relay but I have both wired up to switch on/off simultaneously. Here's my write-up:

This wiring schematic shows you how to wire up the relay for the second electric fan. It's not my own but the principle is the same:

What are the advantages of this? Personally i see an electric fan as something that can go out easier than the mechanical... Ya i have the aux fun on my jeep but its wired up to a toggle because it quit comming on when it was supposed to. Ive thought about dual electric just cant seem to trust electric fans

I run dual electrics. Taurus fan on the passenger side and a Derale on the driver side.

Advantages are that on the trail, you get full cooling from the fan when idling or creeping. Also, the Taurus fan pulls twice the air as the stock fan

Do you have the part number or the fan assembly that you purchased?

hmm i have no issues with heat personally.. i also have hood vents... my jeep is too cold during the winter times as well now. It wont reach operating temperature unless i sit still for about 30 min with my fan off.

It was a universal slimline 14" fan that I bought from a local auto parts store and it's rated to 1800cfm when used as a puller. There are similar electric fans being sold in ebay.

Saar, I would like to bring up an issue to consider when buying an efan. They are not all created equal. Check how many CFM the fan is rated for. The stock mechanical fan is rated for 1800 CFM. If you don't exceed that, you haven't gained anything.

Thanks,I'll do some hunting around at the local auto parts around here.
