I thought the same thing, but since you mentioned it I went and looked and it appears the RS was the option that offered the split bumper. The SS and Z28 had full bumpers, unless they were optioned with the RS package.

Test driving a Durango. Told they guy I was only interested in a 4x4. He wanted to know why, I told him for safety on the road for my wife, just better in the rain. We started talking about 4x4's, he showed me he Dodge power wagon that was lifted 12" in the back of the dealership. The Vipers were parked back there too. I made comment that is what God meant a car to be, and he said "You wanna test drive one?!?!?!" :D He wanted to go fast. 130 mph on the I-10 feeder (traffic was too heavy on I-10) :D

They sure are, i had the privilege to see that one a couple years back. I can't imagine how much fun it is to drive.

The guy that bought that one passed away before it arrived. Then it was passed around to different owners who raced it for a few years. After that it was set up for 40? years. Then found in a shed and restored.
