Name what kinda people buy a $300,000 home (worth 750k elsewhere) and hang their laundry across the front of it, removes all the appliances & plumbing, a/c, heat, fills in the heated inground pool......and calls it home?

Depends on what part of the country your in. If your in PA they could possibly be Amish. If your in Cali. That was me. Pools are a waste of money and land. I hang my clothes b/c the sun is free. I threw out the AC b/c geothermal is better. However I kept my plumbing. Potty goes down the hole.

Yeah I'd buy the house... But would def. not do any of that to it... Now don't get me wrong, wouldn't mind doing the geothermal stuff and setting up either solar panels or a small wind turbine... But I would def make use of an inground pool and I don't do no appliances...

Geothermal is not effective in the summer, ask my other neighbor.....winter is questionable as well.....those are his words, we have very high humidity here....

There was almost a correct guess, but I dont live in PA....

I had geothermal when I lived on my grandparents farm in Minnesota. It was rad.
But anyway. I take it you've got Amish folks near by. Those folks are a trip. They get away with everything. Just like the lazy ass welfare people in my neighborhood.
I had read some where when I was looking for breads of dogs how that the Amish have been known for puppy mills. Not sure if that's true of not. Never bought a dog from a Amish person.

Well sir, you are correct.......Amish are known to be in PA, Ohio has the largest population, they can be found as far south as Florida, Indiana has numerous and here in Kentucky....they have a strong foot hold.

As far as 'getting away with everything'......you hit that nail right on the head, oh they're cute and all when the occasional buggy goes down your street, but once you learn about their less than honest ways...it becomes disturbing. My property value just shrunk from their purchase of the home accross the way, went from great nieghbors to eye-sore in 3 days, but what else would you expect from a society that only requires an 8th grade education...

Man I'm so sorry. Is there a law in your area about what is an eye sore? I know those bastards get away without paying taxes, but they are not above the law. I would nit pick and find any and all things.

No, there are no laws like that out here.......There's more of that family in Indiana looking to relocate here, so......after the school year, I'll sell them this place!! ;) Meanwhile, I'm keeping the barn doors open, and the stereo cranked.....lol.....they probably already can't wait to buy me out!!!

And all this time I thought that the Amish were Godly people that built great furniture cheap. Get some of the Bible thumpers from Oklahoma over there, that should move 'em out pretty quick.

I'm starting to think the laundry displayed off the front of their newly aquired home is some sort of Morse Code.....

Why bother when you can hang laundry off your home?

Last night, I realized a single horse drawn buggy going down the street is as loud as a 4.0 with open exhaust on 35" Super Swamps......

I wish they would, and a road tax is in order for the ammount of damage they create......

Honestly, they're the loudest thing on the street, louder than the school bus at 7am......well wait, Dead Air Denise's open stack diesel is pretty loud, but he has'nt been around lately.....

That would mean I'd need to purchase skivies though.........:bang:

Day 3, laundry has'nt moved, it's 'got' to be dirty again by now between the gravel road, soy bean pollen, 2 nights of dew and the general crap in the air...

Maybe she's using it as a sound barrier???

I've watched that show. The Amish are not as "godly" as they want people to believe nor are they Law abiding. They behave much more like a cult. They also are not "pacifist". Those sheets are probably up there so they can hide from view. When I was 15 I lived with a family for two weeks to learn about their culture, it took two months to get the elders to agree with me so I could learn their ways. Once I did, I wanted nothing more to do with them. As for their products being cheep, they are not.
