IM on the prowl for a rebuilt cylinder head... I am about 99% sure mine is cracked, anyhow I saw that there are two different castings and from what I could find on google the casting numbers are NOT going to be just plain stamped its going to be a series of numbers which will somehow give you the correct casting...
can somebody who has done some rebuilds on these motors(ahem)
if anyone has actually taken pictures of their own casting.
my jeep is a 92 model with an HO motor, is there a different casting for the renix and the HO motors?

Not sure, but if that is the one for that series up to 99 I believe, then yes. But don't quote me on that. All I know for sure is the HO heads flow better

I found this on ebay... apparently there are 3 castings which I SUPPOSE one is renix one is HO and then one is 99+

0331 is the 99+. You are going to have to do some more research there.

then Im pretty sure mine is a 2686... but what are the differences? apparently folks can swap exhaust and intake manifolds from one year to another... Ive heard someone put a 99+ on a 87 XJ... so im curious whats the difference in em?

Basically it is how much the ports will flow. The way they got HO was to open up the heads a little, thus giving it more hp. But the 0331 head in addition to being short on metal, flows less than the series before it. Yes the newest intake will bolt up and flows better and more. But you have to port the heads for it to work right.

Yes, raised letters that are I think inside the valve cover.
