Looks like some of the new (ish) Pentastar 3.6l's have a problem with their heads. Apparently there's not enough material in places which lead to cracks. Seems to me a recall is in order but for now if you still have a warranty and the certain problem a "mechanic" at you local dealership will rip apart your new engine. Out of luck if your warranty's gone.

Don't hold your breath guys. The I6 cannot be made to pass todays emissions.

They are that stiff now on regulations? How can they be making better engines with more HP and still pass emissions?

The emissions regs get worse every year. What has been happening is that combustion chamber designs have improved, as well as electronics. For instance my Subaru has at least 5 O2 sensors I have found so far. Throttles have gone from foot actuated to electronically actuated. I have two on the Subaru. ECMs get faster and sensors more sensitive. Also a big player is the variable camshaft timing on engines now which flatten out the torque curve and provide more low end than the 4.o ever had. Also there are variable length intakes coming into play now. It all adds up

Well thats crappy. I guess buy a few donors so you have plenty of spares.
