been awhile since i have been here, since i sold my last xj, i recently picked up another from a kid in eureka.

its an 88, 4.0, ax15, d30 and a time bomb locked d35, tom woods sye and drive shafts, RC long arm with rusty's 4.5" springs front and rear, 2" coil spacers and 2" shackles in the rear, 33"M/T mtz's, exo cage etc etc

was so exited to be back in a jeep i went and got my wife one also lol.

hers is a super clean 88 yj, new carb, 4.2, 5spd, 3.5" BDS lift and 2" shackles on 33" bfg mt's, this thing is a blast to drive and actually gets great mpg's lol.

here is a couple pics of both

Good score. That exo looks like it protects the driver great. I think I would add a bit more to it along the rest of the jeep though so it looks a little more "complete"

ya that's definitely on the to-do list, i want to get rid of the bar over the rear doors, they only open up half way and the kids are already bitching lol

Only issue with removing that bar over the rear doors is, unless you are going to run some internal bracing down to the sliders from the halo, you will loose all of the rear support and protection for the front seats..

I like the look of both of the new Jeeps in the family... AS stated above would def finish up the full exo, but it is def a nice looking start to build off of!!

Looks OK to me. But it would be better if you could support it by the B pillar. Maybe repositioning the current support or smaller tubing?

No need to apologize for your ms paint skills... I think you did perfect. You can easily see exactly what you are thinking about as a design

Personally, I love your idea. I'm just trying to think of way to give you more structural integrity. Maybe on your verticle bar going to the rear wheel well, you could make it 2 tubes like a double barrel shotgun instead of one. (keep in mind I have no experience building exo-cages, but this is just thinking purely from a physics standpoint) I believe triangles are the strongest shape when making cages. Here's two ideas for ya, you won't hurt my feelings if you don't like them ;)

thanks brass, i like both of your idea's and i think something like in your bottom pic would work nice, looking at the jeep i think i could reposition the b-pillar bar as 4.3LXJ said, at the bottom it is connected to the rock slider close to the door, i think if i mount it further out it may give enough room the get the door open a little more.

Yeah, move it out to the tube. Then you probably can use the door normally and retain its strength.
