My track bar mount broke at the axle.:bang: When I make my new one I want to move it rearward about two to three inches. It will no longer be inline with the frame mount. Will this be OK? Or am I setting my self up for some bad issues. :out: I can't relocate my frame mount as the track bar would then contact the differential housing. This is my daily driver when not broken.
It's an XJ with a Currie 9", over the knuckle steering, 5.5" of lift, 33"AT's on the road / 35" MT's offroad tires.
I'm moving it rearward as my drag link and tie rod hit the mount limiting my turning radius.

The Pics are what is was like :D after I raised it.

Misery loves company Charles. I have been where you are now. I have a high steer too and tried to use the stock track bar because of money issues at the time and finally just tore it up. Ripped the mount off the axle and half destroyed the frame end. I had death wobble that came and went as I worked on it. I finally just trashed the whole thing and started from scratch.

Here is what I ended up with. I moved the track bar frame mount forward and to the passenger side and raised it up

Put in a straight pitman arm that was longer anyway which picked up the turning radius and rate.

That allowed me to have a straight track bar that was very heavy duty and the exact length and angle as the drag link.

Sweet. Nice pics. It's given me ideas. Who's joints did you use on the track bar?

Those are from Parts Mike. He is almost local to me. He developed those himself, has the prototype to prove it. They seem to be copied now by some others. The inserts don't wear out, but do need to be greased every other month or they will squeak. I recommend taking them apart after a month of use and hand packed the first time. They come apart easily, no snap rings and you can get a spanner, which he gave me free, which adjusts the joint.

I came up with this set up because I knew I needed to do something besides what was available. One clue I had was that my high steer kit came with a new track bar bracket that fit a TJ. It just happened to be in the same position I came up with. That track bar ending up inside the coil is a bummer.

Why being inside the coil a bummer? I know a longer track bar, closer to the length of the draglink is better but is it causing problems for you?

It was. I shortened it a little and found it was the cause of my death wobble. The whole set up is sensitive when lifted a lot. Straightened it all out and couldn't be happier.
