Yesterday my radio and cig. lighter went out. Got home pulled the bad fuse out and left it out. This morning on my way to get fuses I realized my blinkers were not working. My hazards work. I click the lever up and down and nothing even shows up for any amount of time... So I check the fuse box and the number eight slot for blinkers was empty.. Keep in mind I havent touched the fuses before and assuming it has been empty since it was working fine and never had problems. I stuck the required fuse into the slot and nothing happened still.... ideas... ill post a picture ina second

I could be wrong, but I see a place for a flasher there. The round area with a place for two spades. That is where the flasher goes. If it doesn't have one, the signals won't work. Look underneath some more and see if you have two small round cans with a plug in the end. Most are aluminum colored.

If you replace the flasher and you still have nothing check the grounds. XJs are notorious for bad grounds. If that ain't it then check the "Blinker Fluid". LOL

I have a quart of that left from a project .....

If only it was that easy. /pouts.
But no flasher anywhere. Possible it has been working without it and just completely rigged? Looks like I will just continue to cut people off.

The great search for the ever elusive flasher :D I bet if you buy one and plug it in there the signals will work.

I'll get one now and see. I went to autozone and even suggested a flasher and they looked at me like I was a freak. -.-

Francesca, don't go to the zone. They are zoned out and don't know their :ass: from third base.

Other auto parts stores like NAPA are much better. And now you have us for suggestions for fixes. :love0007:

Just an outside thought. The correct fuse slot may not be receiving current and power may be coming from another slot???????

They were closed anyways. And I don't think there is a maps by me only oreilys and autozone oh and advanced. U.U but I appreciative the help I just hope its that flasher. also thanks very much for the picture of your fuse box od

Yeah I thought that too... I tried sticking a fuse in a couple to try that but nothing.. unless I skewers something up. Which I don't know how. Because I honestly don't think the flasher will fix it. But hoping. The other aluminum part for hazards.. I don't have that yet my hazards work.. u.u

And I don't think its my toggle thing either considering my heights will turn on and wipers work.

Francesca. Things like lights and brake lights are wired direct to the fuse block under the hood which goes directly to the battery. E flashers too, but blinkers are powered by the ignition switch through the fuse block. Different parts of that fuse block are powered by different different wires from the fuse block under the hood. I didn't think of this before, but lift the hood and check that fuse block for a heavy fuse that has blown.

Well if your blinkers use to work with out that flasher in the fuse block, and your hazards are working and there is no flasher in the fuse block, then i would assume there is some rigged up wiring in there somewhere.

shit. Exactly what I didn't want someone to type. No hand signals from me

In my '95 I've had the same problem from time to time; I'll get in, start the car and the blinkers will not work for whatever reason. I never figured out the cause of it, but usually if I move the steering column up and down a few times they will return. This works for me since they only go out every now and then, maybe its a bad wire somewhere underneath the dash??

Probably a column wiring problem

Mine used to do this where the turn sigs would stop working. It tured out to be the pug on just one right hand turn sig grounding out in the plug. I tried cleaning it and everything but that didnt fix it. So I cut it out and put a new plug in and I havent had the problem since. ALL my turn signals would stop working BUT the hazards still worked. I dont know how or why but replacing the one pug fixed it.
