i have a 4.5 lift on my 90 XJ, could i buy 3 inch Spacers and get longer shackles or blocks probably blocks cuz i run them on my 97 and they do fine. This jeep is only for offroading so i would get longer control arms later on down the road. would this work with my current setup? i have an adjustable track bar already on it as well as extended brake lines and SYE. only thing i would need are adjustable arms, i have fixed rough country right now.

You can do anything. The question is can it be done well. I personally would be alittle scared of 3 inches of spacers or blocks. 3" Shackles would probably totally screw up your shackle angle unless you stretched it. But then you'd need different leaf springs.

Why exactly are you shooting for 7 inches? Usually at 6", you want to consider a long arm setup.

If you are running short arms on the front, I wouldn't do it. The other thing is that you start exceeding the angle the tie rod ends will accommodate. Trust me, I know. Once you get past 6 inches you need to address steering. And I have to tell you, in my opinion none of them are really good for a daily driver. I had to go to a high steer and completely redo my track bar to get it straightened out.

dont go higher than what you are without adj. arms, it will ride horrible. I am at 5.5 with adj. arms and saving for a longarm kit. I went from 3.5 to 5.5 with spacers and blocks, and went thru 2 sets of tires on the front and a set of balljoints before I finally got it all straightned out. If its a daily driver, IMO dont do it, till you can get the longarm kit. There have been many times I almost gave up and was gonna take mine back down to 3.5".

why do you want to go higher.........if just a off roader cut the guards and fit bigger tires..at the end of the day its about diff clearance ...bigger tires more clearance ...less lay down time as well

didnt see that part, I still wouldnt do it, thats getting way up there with out some serious modifications to the steering and everything else. I never listened when evryone said save your money and do it right the first time, with the money I have spent I could have prob. done an 8" longarm kit 2 years ago. Oh well live and learn
