Original miles? It must have been abducted by a UFO in 1990! :out:

89 is a Renix engine?

Yes, Renix. But with those low miles, he shouldn't have any worries.

If its Renix I would say GOOD BYE for sure , milage or not its still a horrable system and can get very pricey to convert. OK I'm done

sounds like a decient deal. I'd check to see if the miles are actual though.
The Renix isn't the best engine but it isn't as bad as the rep it seems to have.

Wow. I love my RENiX rigs! I'd buy it just because it was a extremely low mileage rig.

Just because you have most likely had issues, I disagree with your assessment of all Renix engines.

My 1988 Renix MJ just hit 208000 today!
I'd jump on one with that low miles

Youll be fine with a renix, just dont mess with it too much. Can't say if its a good deal or not though without a price.

My 89 has 350,000 miles on it and doesnt even leak oil a little. I have had several renix jeeps and all over 200,000 miles one with 580,000 never had a proble with them so I dont know what people are talking about. How many miles should you get out of one before you get problems? Any jeep with low milage JUMP on IT

Get it, the seller can ask anything they want but you can offer less.

Find something to complain about on it and lower the price.

Renix is awesome and with those low miles if they are valid, you should have a jeep that will last you a long time.

Is it an Inline 6 or v6?

Inline 6 is better.

He said it's an 89 so its the 4.0.
The last year for the V6 was 86

absolutely nothing wrong with renix. If they do have problems with the Renix I wonder if they didn't buy crap in the first place and just get a bad opinion of them.

i have a 87 and 90 and they both run really well, i beat on my 90 when off roading and it hasn't caused me any problems except one sensor go out :D

seems like it has more low end torque than my 97

89Laredo

About the same torque, but WAY lower down....
Output: 1987-90: 177 hp (132 kW) at 4500 rpm with 224 lb·ft (304 N·m) at 2500 rpm.
1991-95: 190 hp (142 kW) at 4750 rpm with 225 lb·ft (305 N·m) at 4000 rpm.
1996-01: 190 hp (142 kW) at 4600 rpm with 225 lb·ft (305 N·m) at 3000 rpm.
2001-06: 190 hp (142 kW) at 4600 rpm with
235 lb·ft (319 N·m) at 3200 rpm.

And... No rev limiter. :)

I have owned several XJ's and just sold my last one and now have a Bronco. I am an ASE certified mechanic and parts specialist. I'm glad you like Renix system rigs and thats your opinion, not mine and I have every right to post my opinion when asked. An opinion was asked for and I gave mine,as you did. Its ok that they differ.

So I'll post my opinion here. Go for it, any Jeep with the 4.0 is the way to go. The 2.8 I'd say run like Forest Gump like I said my opinion. I have owned all flavours 85 2.8 2wd,87 4.0 renix,91 obd1 ,and 97 obd2. By far the 2.8 with the vacuum diagram is the hardest one to work on. The renix era gave the 4.0 and the xj the reliability it needed. But by far the hardest fuel injected one to troubleshoot issues (but very common to see rolling strong at 300k). Obd1 and obd2 will just tell you what's wrong. The only real tool required to fix a renix era Jeep is a analog voltmeter.

hope my opinion helps
