Went on a jeep cruise yesterday with about 30 jeeps... There was about 6 cherokees, and they all had nice lifts... Now, I guess I am wondering what the heck is up with my lift... I started with a ome 4" lift.
3.5" leafs with 3" shackle in rear, and 2" lift coils with 3" coil spacers (this is a long story... don't ask) so after I installed my smittybilt front an rear bumper... I needed more... So I bought rubicon express 4" lift coils. I installed the 4" coils, with a 1" spacers in front... This leveled it out with rear... (stiffer coils) so I guess my question is, what the heck is wrong with my lift! If I put 2" coil spacers in front, and a block in rear, or different shackle, it still looks tiny for a 5-6" lift.... I see this re 5.5" long ARM lift kit for $2000... But I have at least that now and it just looks little compared to everyone else... I know I am only running 31" tires, and that will make it look bigger when I get 33" tires, but what the heck.... I need to see some pictures.... Anyone have the re 5.5 long arm? Pics, reviews appreciated...http://img.tapatalk.com/c6e4d8a0-a585-61c8.jpg

Greg in the post (link you gave) you say it's a 4.5" long arm. Is it a 4.5" or a 6"?

I figured it must be a 6" but I could also see how people might be confused reading the two posts. :thanx:

Hey Nate , the biggest issues with the XJ is they never look "big" AT one time mine was at 7.5" on 35's and still looked small. The long arm will not give you additional height just more articulation.

Yes, I know the long arm is for articulation, I just figured, I either have to get adjustable upper and lower control arms, so I might as well put it towards a la kit ..

I am running 7.5" RE springs on the front, but it measures out at 8" (See the how to section on measuring lift height.)

They do look bigger when you trim the fenders, I coulda swore mine gained 2 inches in height when I trimmed my fenders and then I parked next to Dodge Ram with 245's on it and realized it still wasnt any taller:cry:

The great thing about a lifted XJ is you can park it in a garage, drive it in and park in a parking garage, and take it pretty much anywhere.

The biggest difference between all the rest of those tall vehicles... the 2 feet of clearance between the ground and the BOTTOM of the people space.

I've had a lifted full sized pick up before, and loved it, but you have to think ahead about where you are going to park, or what you are going to be able to get through.

I love pulling up to Valet Parking in Atlantic City with mine they usually stick their head out the window and look when they drive it in the garage cuz the roof rack makes it look like it aint gonna fit but like you said it does lol

It is deceiving. Mine with 8" of lift is about the same height as a minivan at the roof. Amazing.
