Couple of things on the hub conversion. First automatic hubs are not all they are cracked up to be. They tend to disengage when going downhill or braking. They rely on the difference in speed of the driveshaft and hub. That is why they went to the vacuum disconnect which is as close to automatic as it gets. Personally, I don't think they are worth it. They use the smaller spindles like on the Bronco II. The cheap way to do it is getting the knuckle assembly and stub axle from the Bronco II D30.

The real way to do it would be to get the knuckle assembly and stub axle from the early D30. That set up is very strong and will take more abuse than your unibody will.

Dana 28 or 35, Ford never put a 30 in the front of the bronco 2.

If you do the Dana 30/44 hybrid front axle it would be worth it. Junk yard shopping will make it financially worth it. Buying it all new you might find yourself in a Curry built dana 44 price range.
But check these cats out: http://www.reidracing.biz/
I know some folks will trash talk the hybrid ideal, but I'm doing it any way. I'm only going to a 35" tire any way.
