If you don't mind doing a little work scrounging, a junkyard lift in the 3-4" range can be done pretty cheap. Here is one of my favorite links (http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/budget-builds-what-junkyard-parts-will-fit-xj-847303/)

The biggest problem with Rough Country I think comes after they started selling cheap long arm kits. They just did not do any testing. They ended up with bushings and ball joint inserts that just did not hold up. They have redisigned them now and have improved somewhat.

3" lift will not work with 32" tires. I have 3-1/2" RE kit + 3/4" spacers on top of that (longer shackles in the rear). Still had to do lots of trimming at 4-1/4", and yes the tires still rub, especially in the rear. At 3" of lift, the stock flares will not work and there will be lots of trimming to do on the body.

See my pictures to get an idea of what an XJ with 32" tires looks like.

Basing the above on if you plan to save the stock look. If you are OK with massive amounts of body trimming, then disregard what I wrote.

This is based on my experience. Not what my brothers friends friend told me.

Are you trying to stay as stock as possible?

Nope, stock isnt really my goal. I'd love to go bigger. I dont mind trimming my fenders alot, i like the look of it better than any flares i've seen so far. KeeGirl96's trimming in the picture is probably about where i would want to cut to but my ultimate goal is to run 33's. If i were to a get a 3 inch lift would adding coil spacers and leafs make in any higher?

I ran 33s with a 3.5" lift, trimmed my fenders but I still rubbed in the rear

That is just a default avatar for everyone. Sort of a joke really. You can upload any pic you want as long as it is family friendly. Go to your User CP and use "edit avatar" to upload your pic

Lol, yeah, Tony did that to "encourage" people to upload a picture of their own ;) Quite effective I'd say :smiley-laughing021:

Yeah, a motivator to change the avatar. :D You can upload your own, or select from one of the several we have available.

Cuz you need to upload one of your Jeep!

Cut those fenders. Yes, spacers will make it higher. And if you run 4" leafs without a shackle relo kit, the back will be stiffer than the front and shouldn't rub too bad. You could always add bumpstops if it still rubs to bad. Grinder time!
