I wanted an exhaust that would exit pretty much at the rear of the XJ but up and out of the way of rocks. My kids go crawling with me from time to time and I didn't want to cut it off half way back w/ a turn down and have fumes coming in the rear door windows. So, this is what I came up with.

Beautiful work. I'll admit when I first started reading this thread I thought, "Oh my God routing exhaust pipe INSIDE the cabin?!?!?!"

Nice job ... form & function ...

Personally tho ... I like the idea of the fumes ... Reduces the amount of "are we there yet", considerably ... if they are snoozing ...

just joking of course .... :D

Decent tie-down points are a good move too ...

Have you got any production piccies of the rear bar corners ... Your setup is the closest Ive seen yet to some ideas Ive been having.

Has that race car look to it. I bet the guy next to you at the stop light really like having the exhaust blown in his wondows too, lol.

Thanks!

I don't have any production pieces. The rear bumper is from AJ's and I added the side rub rails to it made out of 1"x2" tubing .250 wall.

Thanks!

Took a lot of time to complete. Getting it sealed properly was one issue but keeping the heat out was an even bigger issue. The pipe temperature back there was 600 degrees at 2000 RPM. After lots of header wrap and Kevlar insulated panels covered with carpet, I was able to get the temp (at the carpet) down to 75 degrees at 2000 RPM.

I love the ingenuity, you were definitely thinking outside the box. Some great work there, very cleanly done.

Exhaust looks awesome, and love how you made it work with the 1/4 pnl guards... What back bumper are you running?? I love the slider that is built into the bumper where you did the cut & fold!!

My bumpers are AJ's http://http://www.ajsoffroadarmor.com/home.php
The slider I added to the bumper.

This is the site I used for my cut and fold

 Now that is just SWEET! now if you go swimming, the exaust has a good chance of staying out of the water. I really like your idea, thanks for sharing. :smiley-bounce015:
