when I replaced the rear wiper switch on the 99 today, I found a set of wires with a connector behind the unused switch position next to the rear wiper switch. Anyone know if this is for the extended idle ?

I made the extended idle modification on my 1999 XJ and it works well especially if you want to boost charging output while using the winch. I didn't use the factory switch that is still available because it was special order and I didn't want to wait for it. My switch is the red one (with a cover) to the right of the speedometer. The silver pull switch below it allows me to override the cooling fan sensor and runs the auxiliary cooling fan full time. I use this regularly when wheelin' in hot weather.

Is the connector white ??

Does it have a grey wire in the bunch ??

If so ... you might have everything you need ... but double check it all back to the PCM connection with a meter.

My RHD 97 update - only had the grey wire from, the PCM, to the connector at the firewall, near the dipstick.

.... and it doesnt seem RHDs have ext idle facility ... :bang: .. :mad:
