View Full Version : Rebuilding 4.0; Shop Recommendations in OK?

I am looking to have a shop rebuild my 1988 jeep cherokee straight six engine and replace my transfer case any suggestions and possibly some ideas on prices so i know what kind of money i am looking at.

Replacing a tcase is more expensive than it should be. What is wrong with it? Chain worn out or viscous coupling going bad?

well im not real sure i just bought the jeep bout a month ago and it will go into 4 hi but i cant get the shifter to go into the rest.

So you have full time 4WD or do you only have 2WD - 4WD - N- 4lo?

I know of a good off road shop in tulsa, at least I've seen their work in videos and magazines for years.

check the linkage 1st its probably bound up

Another question, are you trying to shift while the transmission is in gear?
