Over the last week or so, I've been reading the High-Performance Jeep Cherokee XJ Builder's Guide by Eric Zappe. In the book, he features John's 95 XJ. He says it is running a full width D44 and D60 on 36x13.5" tires on 17" rims with 5" backspacing. From the pictures I see he has a set of Bushwacker flares. What I also see is that the tires are barely sticking out past the flares. Maybe I just haven't been around much but this is the first time I've seen an XJ on full widths that aren't hanging about a foot out on either side of the body. Living in PA, where flares must cover the tires, my interest is peaked. So, what this all boils down to is that I would like more info on his setup. What did the axles come out of? Maybe a build thread somewhere? Anything? I tried a google search and all I could come up with was links to the book I already have in my hands and 1 mention of the feature in the book, oh and porn???:smiley-laughing021: Figured I'd start with you guys and go from there before I bother Eric about it.

Yeah sounds hokey to me. I had (in this image) Dana 30 on 15x10 3.75" backspace and, 32x11.5x15

The one with the rear coilovers and half doors? I have the book and remember it. Cool jeep with nice flex. Sorry, don't know anything about it other than what's in the book.

It is featured near the back of the book, somewhere between trannys/transfers, and armor. Sorry I left the book out in the Jeep when I got home or I'd be more specific. I do know it has a coil swap on the rear. He mentioned in the writeup that John had built it up over time like most of us do. Maybe the pics were from an older setup.

Dunno whether its helpful or not ....

... but the bloke that was making up the 4x4 versions of a local GM product down here ... used 44 & 60 diffs.

They were a special order, shortened, version from Dana.

Maybe there were some leftovers used in that XJ build ... or the owner did a heap of modifying ??

Seems like if you had alot of backspacing you could keep em under the flares. Something close to fwd offset.

Carves, having them shortened had come to mind.

I think it could be done with the semi floating D60/44 combo from a Gladiator J20. I can't remember though which side the drop is on in that one. But since it was from a later model, I think it was a driver side drop. (That would be passenger side for you Wayne)
