For those that are not familiar with the original Jeep FC (Forward Control) here is an FC 170. They also had a shorter wheelbase FC 150 among other variants.

What do you guys think?

I like it.. not sure about the grille though. Perhaps a bit more rounded like the original.

I like it, not crazy about how much its going to cost based on what I read the MSRP for the mopar portal axles was. $12k for the front and $11k for the rear.

Right. but if it ever went to production it would have standard production straight axles, possibly J8 axles. Of course production model wouldn't have tires that size either.

True, but it would be nice if they did use the portal axles should it ever be produced, not that I think it ever would.

If you were looking for a compact work truck, it looks like a good deal. Might need some sand bags in an empty bed for snow though

prerunner1982

If you look through the pics on the link the bed is pretty full. It is not all as deep as it seems though it would be more useful that way.

OK, that blew it for a work truck for me

Just something else they are teasing us with. I love looking at this stuff but it also pisses me off at the same time. We all know we will never see it! Just like the Nukaiser!

Exactly, i loved the Nukizer and this one looks killer as well but you know when it comes time to say yay or nay for a production model their gonna go with the wussified crossover.

This concept looks to be using a good bit of JK parts including the pickup conversion cab. Also i bet its on a JK chassis like the Nukizer. Nonetheless its awesome!

Most likely the J8 military chassis..

The article says it started as a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.

Then it sounds like the replicated the original well as it was thought to be pretty ugly..

Kind of like a Pug.... ugly but lovable.

Exactly! Some of the coolest trucks I've ever seen.

I just realized how weird the profile of the FC concept looks.

Yeah, I noticed that. I love the cab over trucks but that one has too long of a bed...makes it look kinda weird.

That was the idea behind the FC trucks, short wheelbase but long bed. The long bed wouldn't be bad if it was usable.

EekGirl96
03-29-2012, 03:57 PM
The older ones didnt look that big or as long as this new concept

prerunner1982
03-29-2012, 04:30 PM
I can't find what the bed specs are for the FC Concept but the original FC 170 had a 9' bed and a 103" wheelbase.

The article says they took a 2012 JK and stretched it. If it was a 2 door JK then it started with a 95" wheelbase so it is probably close to what the original FC 170 was maybe a bit longer.

KH96XJ
03-29-2012, 06:26 PM
I wonder if they would do two different models like the original. I think the shorter one was a FC 150?

XJ Wheeler

They're gonna have to make the crew cab and wagon concepts too then.

No wonder the Kombi was popular ... :D

There a photo getting around on the net of the new prototype as a dual cab ...

Looks good compared to the single cab ... might be just photoshopped tho.

... then again ... maybe they could bang a JK body on a little 4x4 IVECO ... or just change the grille badges and call it a 2013 Wrangler  .. :D

XJ Wheeler

Seems like they shoulda put a snorkel type intake that a lot of normal cabover trucks have that run up the back of the cab. Surprised they missed that.

That filter is in a lousy spot. But let's face it, this is a prototype with a glass body and not all the stuff you would see in a production vehicle. I could swamp that filter in a minute in some of the trails I run.

I wouldn't mind them bringing back the Levi's edition. They can keep the plaid for the VW guys who like that stuff. I'm glad my TDI doesn't have it.

Rhino lined is present day. In the good old days, Jeep had two images. One was the CJ/military image and the other was the Jeepster/station wagon image. Jeep was the first company to make the SUV, AKA Jeep station wagon that came in 2 and 4wd

I hope if this ever does get produced, they will round out the grille, not leave it squared off!! I would love to see this thing come out one day... don't think I would purchase one though... Now the new J12 Concept
http://www.allpar.com/photos/concept-cars/jeep/moab-2012/Jeep-J12.jpg
or the Nukizer 715 concept
http://image.dieselpowermag.com/f/28915670+w750+st0/1010dp_01_o+1010dp_mopar_built_diesel_jeep_nukizer _concept+driver_front_view.jpg..
