I experience some braking problems on the left front side.
After driving maybe 20 miles, I feel the stearingwheel pulling to the left.

When I stop I detect some smoke coming from the left brakes/wheel.

Breaks must cool down a lot before i can drive again.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

dragging brake caliper or a rubber brake line becoming a 1 way valve :sniper:

I agree. Check the caliper for good side to side movement.

X3 on calipers. Dealt with that twice so far on my xj, and i have a feeling there will be more.

I had the same problem. It ended up being the master cylinder.

I think I'm having a combo. It pulled hard to the driver's side during hard braking, replaced calipers and now it not bad, but still there.

Do you have stainless brake lines? Maybe warped a rotor if you got it hot enough.

What method did you use to bleed the brakes?

I don't know what you call it, pump, hold and squirt? :D

So you use the hand pump that you connect the hose and pump the air out until you get fluid.

Would that be a manual hand pump? :D

Sounds like the bleeding was done properly then. If you had done it by having someone pump the brakes and then you opening the bleeder valve I was going to suggest bleeding them a different way for better results.....but nevermind.

Well I think I did the braided hoses at the same time. I had never bled brake lines before. I had my daughter pump the brake and hold then I released the bleeder screw. Bubbles = bad, steady stream of brake fluid = good.

It was very simple just like Matt had told me. It stops much better now and I thought it was fine before. :D Still pulls a little. I've been told it is probably the master cylinder.

I typically put a tube on the bleeder, put the other end in a cup of brake fluid. Open the bleed and slowly pump the brakes 3-4 times. Had worked great and can be done by yourself.

During this easter weekend I found some time to look at my brake problem.

I thought it could by the piston inside de brake cilinder.

I saw some scratch marks on this piston.

Cleaned everything and put it back together.

It seems to work but I will have to drive a couple more miles to experience if this was the right action.

Yep, rust on the piston = sticking brake pad. Just did this fix on a buddy's over the weekend. one piston was so rusted in it took two shots of PB Blaster to get it loose enough to get it out for cleaning.
