Went hog hunting by Centerville (I-45 and 7 in Texas) this weekend. Behind the skinning shack there was an old Jeep. Asked the owner what he wanted for it and he told me, "Haul it out and its yours."

Jeep is a 73 Wagoneer. It has a 304? V8, turbo 400, and Quadratrac 4WD. I did see factory AC, manual windows, and manual doorlocks. Owner told me the Jeep was driven into that spot a couple years ago because the tranny started acting up and nobody in the family wanted to mess with it. The Jeep is rough, but is all there. I will put some pictures of it in my photo album.

Anyway, if any one wants it, I know where its at.

Hmm, that is a good candidate for trail rig. If I had the extra money to dump in it...

Man I wish I was closer. That looks like it would be a great tow vehicle/light duty play toy. Just my luck so far away. Have to continue on my 63 IH Travel-all.

I'd do the exact same setup Scott if I could find a deal like that just sitting there waiting for some love!! People here would just rather let a vehicle go to rusted hell then give anything away... Pretty annoying actually, been keeping my eye on a classic Mustang, and if it goes too much further I'm going to punch the owner and take it anyways, just for letting it go to waste!!

If that was free and in my area it would have a new home already,... but the shop is kind of full,...

So it would be sitting outside for the time,..

Man, thats a steal, that thing looks pretty clean compared to some ove seen. Should have a AMC 360, or maybe if youre lucky, AMC 401. Either way great looking restoration candidate in my eyes, I have a 88 Grand Wagoneer and 82 J10 Im working on now, if I had seen this a week ago I wouldve picked it up to add it to the fleet, but Im glad somebody on here got it rather than a junkyard or crusher:thumbsup:

And whoever got please post more pics:D

Pulling it with the standard trans was interesting... once it was rolling it didnt have too much trouble, but with my stock gear ratios 4th and 5th were pretty much useless except to kinda maintain speed. Had to feather the clutch a lot if i had to start on a slope

I know all to well. I did it with an XJ on the back with a 2.8L up over the mountains for over 600 miles. It was a journey. Makes a good driver out of ya.
