So we all have the debate between cargo space and deep sound in our XJs. It seems that you can either have a cargo space full of speakers or you can have your cargo space with rattling and sound that just doesn't get you going. I found this online and wanted to know if anyone has experience with it. Im really interested in it and think that it might give my XJ the thump that im looking for without the weight or restricted space. Please take a look at this link and lemme know what yall think!!!

I haven't had any experience with subs, too old to listen to music that bumps. But the guy to ask on here is HookedonXJs. You can PM him if you want. He hasn't been active for awhile, but he probably receives email from us still. From what I gather, he is kind of a guru and might be able to give you some good suggestions. For what it is worth, there is a panel you can buy for a single sub in the right rear corner that takes up no space. But maybe one is not enough bump for you.

It all depends on what type of music you listen to. An 8" with a 120 watt amp will add a little bump and probably "fill out" your sound for Rock and country. I have run all sorts of systems in my XJ, and I think a 10" in a vented box with 300W RMS is perfect for me. Have you upgraded the original speakers as well? Are they on an amp? I try to balance the sound...

It's mostly a preference thing tho..

Yeah I understand the bit about preference. I listen to a little bit of everything, but I definitely do not need a heavy hitting thump for hip hop and pop. However, I do not want my speakers peaking out everything a base line comes on. I thought this set up would be convenient simply because in my last XJ I had 2 12" mtx thunders running to 1600 watts, but it was a pain to move if I needed space. This way if I need the cargo space I just have to move a small "box"

I don't think that little tube is going to give you the quality and sound level you want if you're used to 2 well powered 12"s. I've got a JL 12" in a bandpass getting about 400 watts that I'm happy with. Single box I can move around and still sounds pretty good. Well powered quality mids can go a long way to giving you nice sound without a big box taking up space.
