Hey,

I'm visiting the US this week, I spent 3 days on San Francisco and I'm in NY for the last 2 days.
So far I saw only 1 (one) XJ.
I was sure that there would be many of them here....
Where are all of those XJs????

Lots of them around, I see a half dozen a day. Might not be too many in the big city though. Did you hit all the spots?

Granted I drive the same way back and forth to work each day, but I don't normally see more than two and they are almost always two wheel drives. I think we lost a lot of them for the "cash for clunkers" program.

As tony said, cash for clunkers took out thousands. Plus I've seen numerous people on forums and other places that buy an xj for the engine, trans, axles, etc and part it out then scraps it.

Another thing that noone seems to talk about is the numerous vehicles taken to Mexico. I'm on the highways of Texas and Louisiana a lot and have personally seen hundreds of Jeeps, Toyotas, and others on their way to be sold in Mexico. And that's only a tiny fraction of them since there are numerous routes and other times of the day that i don't see. I've seen them come through with plates from several states away as well. Most of the time its one vehicle flat towing another with both filled with junk. But, sometimes it worse. I've seen box trucks with cars hanging out the back, an explorer towing another explorer with a car being towed on the back of that (one vehicle flat towing two others). But back to the point. They seem to like jeeps and toyotas, especially cherokees and grands. Others from the area may have noticed as well.

Oh, and they're usually impeding traffic somehow.

We have lots of them in Arkansas, I usually end up in a "Jeep train" on the way to work. Longest so far was 8 jeeps in a row, 4 XJ's, two TJ's a liberty and a ZJ.

Hi,

Thank you for all the replies.
I just saw one today :)
I guess Manhattan is not the best place to meet forum members :)

Every time I head down to Austin or San Antonio there are usually about 10 setups like that heading South.

How's your visit going so far Saar?
