86 cherokee headers

i have a 2.8 in my xj 4x4 and have been looking for headers with little luck. does anyone know if headers from a s10/15 w/2.8l would be a close fit? i have looked at some for firebirds but the y-pipe doesn't look right.

You could most likely get them to fit. However give up on the Y pipe. It will need to be made

You could most likely get them to fit. However give up on the Y pipe. It will need to be made. Also if you are looking for long tube headers, I don't think you can get them to clear the driveline without a lot of lift. Your only real option is shorties.

there is a set made for s10 and blazers by OBX which i have found to be similar to the discontinued eldebrock model. the y-pipe looks really close in theirs...

It doesn't matter how close to another kit it is. The bottom line is that it has to clear the front drive line. That is why you have that kink in the passenger side pipe. I can't help you much on the headers. It has been too many years since I took my 2.8L out, so I only have vague memories of nitty gritty details

Just get some headers that fit. Then have an exhaust shop build a custom y pipe, or better yet run true duals.
